Wearable Technology

Technology will soon allow us to make significant improvements to our humanity. In other words, technology will soon become part of us. This process is most apparent with mobile devices. People cannot live without their smart phones. The smart phone is only 5 years old and has become indispensable. A cell phone is not connected directly to our body, but functionally it is.

ojo cristina 1Thinking Exponentially, as computing continues to shrink in size, it can appear in more and more places. Today its smart mobile phones. Tomorrow will be sunglasses or ski goggles. Shrink some more and the next step is contact lenses. After that is surface sensors on the skin or even machines the sizes of cells. It all comes down to size and computing. Remember, computers may get faster but also can get much smaller.

You don’t have to look far to see the products shaping up to take advantage of this trend. In Q1 2013, the most exciting product to be coming to market will by Google Glass. You can see it in the best product launch ever, learn more, or experience what it is to wear them them. Bottom line: Imagine seeing the world with a computer adding information to everything you see.

Another noteworthy development is the Quantified Self  effort. Using mobile phones and a variety of devices, it is possible to measure and record everything about you. Sleep, blood pressure, sugar levels, calories burned, steps walked and so forth. You can even use your cell phone to get an ECG reading of your heart.
